9/21/2007 Scotty Riddim Foundation (from the carepage)

Greetings to All

As the knife-sharp pain of shock melts into a dull ache, things are beginning to make sense. We’re setting up a foundation to help the Korchaks with hospital, funeral, travel, and related expenses. It will be called the Scotty Riddim Foundation. When it’s official we’ll post more information.

We have been afforded the opportunity to utilize several different venues on the weekend of Oct. 5th and 6th. Can’t give enough thanks for the help of Roger Nabor, Mark Williams, Stretch and the gang at Grinders, and George at G’s Jamaican Cuisine.

If you have questions about timing or locations, please post them in a message on the care page. We can answer them there, possibly helping others with the same questions.

Yes it's true our Gentle Giant has gone to a much-needed rest. Thanks for everything that everyone has done and said. This care page will not disappear. Please check it for information. Mrs. K. is still meeting with people (including musicians who will be asked to play), and may have arrangements in place tomorrow. A memorial is tentatively planned for the weekend of October 5th and 6th, to allow time for all to schedule flights, etc.

Many of you have asked, and my own personal salvation/sanity was facilitated by playing at the same moment the ventilator was removed: along with Scott's other Blue Riddim bandmate BeBop, I played with our brass band Loose Cannon, the Dirty Force band, and the Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans at a 10 Year Celebration Parade at 18th and Vine here in Kansas City. We have posted a video on youtube, which you should be able to access by searching for "Loose Cannon Brass Band".

Much love to you all!

Steve, (Duck, Papa D.)
